Sound familiar? It is pitch dark outside, but you are still in front of the screen? You are sleepy, but there is still so much to do?

Sleep deprivation is a serious problem, and one that people quite often ignore. Sleep is as necessary to us as air and food! It can happen that you are proud of being able to function on four or five hours of sleep, making it to work and getting your tasks done there, mediocrely.

In reality it is far from a joke, because lack of sleep prevents you from concentrating fully and can affect your productivity. Cutting sleep is especially common among working people, who often sleep only a few hours a night and go straight to work exhausted. The misconception that sleep deprivation is the sign of a hard worker must be left behind.

Several companies have gone down the road of offering their employees a chance to nap during working hours, providing different ways to catch up on sleep.

For example, the giant Google has installed sleep pods in its offices exactly for the employees whose night’s sleep fell short.

A properly rested person can work far more effectively than someone whose eyes keep falling shut every minute.

Besides Google, other companies also offer nap options. For example the ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s, where employees have had nap rooms for over a decade.

It is known that a chance to nap at work improves employees’ mood and gives them more energy to carry out their tasks. Of course it would be lovely if this were possible everywhere: to slip away mid-workday into some room and sleep for a couple of hours to wake up with fresh energy.

The reality, however, is that most companies do not offer such a luxurious way to rest, and employees push through 8–10 hours straight. The problem is especially common among micro and small business owners, and even lunch breaks tend to be meagre. No wonder the team’s mood turns negative. And if you are alone in your company, how is your mood? There are plenty of tasks to handle, and the lack of mental sharpness is starting to show?

One of the biggest mistakes an entrepreneur can make is overworking!

Rest enough! And good sleep is an essential part of it.

In that case it is worth considering handing your tasks over to someone else. That’s right! You no longer have to do everything yourself, especially when a virtual assistant is there to delegate your tasks to.

How are sleep and a virtual assistant connected?

A virtual assistant (VA for short) is a helping hand that can get a lot done. During fast and stressful workdays it is precisely the smallest things that get forgotten: arranging a meeting, sending a couple of necessary emails or taking care of the company’s social media.

Exactly these things are what a virtual assistant takes care of. So even if your workplace does not allow napping, all the tasks can still get done on time and without much effort, and a good night’s sleep is guaranteed as well.

A virtual assistant is like your secretary, with the difference that they are not within arm’s reach in the office but somewhere further away, and you do not see them in person. Yet not seeing them with your own eyes does not mean the work is not done well. With a VA’s help you do not have to worry that something is left undone: they do it all for you.

So sleep your full night’s sleep in peace. Do not think about tomorrow’s tasks or about how stressful the coming week could be. By sleeping properly at night you can be sure you will have more motivation to tackle your work, and your mind stays sharp even when the tasks seem to pile too high.

In exactly those moments the virtual assistant steps in and takes care of everything, so you do not have to overthink how and when to get it all done. It is a solution that suits everyone: the business owner, the employee and the virtual assistant alike.
